Our Revels Now are Ended

March 11, 2001 marked the final Sunday service of Trinity Fellowship, A Ministry of the Evangelical Free Church of America.

The Final Sermon

Dr. Williams's sermon on this day recounted the founding principles of Trinity Fellowship and sent us out with a charge to carry these principles onward. You may find a full summary of the sermon here. Below are the five theses on which this church was built and for which its former members still stand:

  1. GOD MADE--AND GOD MEANS--HUMAN BEINGS TO BE WHOLE PERSONS, INCLUDING NOT ONLY EMOTION AND WILL BUT ALSO MIND AND IMAGINATION (Mat. 22:36-38).

  2. If thesis no. 1 is true, then CHURCH MINISTRY SHOULD RECONSTITUTE, REUNIFY, AND REBUILD THOSE WHOLE PERSONS GOD INTENDED OUT OF THE FRAGMENTS CREATED BY SIN (Eph. 4:11-16).

  3. If both of these things are true, then EXPOSITORY PREACHING IS ESSENTIAL TO AUTHENTIC CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (2 Tim. 3:15-17, Col. 1:28).

  4. If these things are true, it also follows that A SACRAMENTAL CAST OF MIND IS ESSENTIAL TO AUTHENTIC CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (1 Cor. 11:23-26).

  5. If all these things are true, then THE NEW TESTAMENT PATTERN OF WORSHIP IS ALSO ESSENTIAL TO AUTHENTIC CHRISTIAN MINISTRY (1 Cor. 14:26, Heb. 10:23-25).

While the Fellowship may be ended and while we may no longer form an official church congregation, this website will continue as a repository for Dr. Williams's sermons (and--we hope--as a place where he can finish posting his Ephesians series). Further, the Inklings online artist support group will also continue.
